squatted 300 today.
7 reps, no hip pain.

what doesn't kill you
decided to power my way through a lower today with a milkshake starter instead of a tea and bar starter.
left column is time, right column is sugar number.
0734 128
0849 173 drank 18ozs no-xplode
1012 128 begin of first set
1027 116 begin of 2nd set
1043 106 begin of 3rd set
1105 121 end of 3rd set
1137 154 30 minutes after 6ozs of cellmass
the 106 number is borderline hypoglycemic for me and i was starting to feel like crap but, breaking through emotional obstacles is the tough one so just to reward myself, i punched out 10-280 lb. squats instead of the usual 7.
might throw another 20 on there after the 1st.
it appears my glucose meter is a more accurate indicator of my strength/endurance than just regulating my calorie/protein intake.
looks like over the next month or so i'm going to make a lot of holes in my fingers because i aint goin' to let chemistry deter me from crashing through the wall i'm up against.
doctor's visits are February, 15th and i want to be below 250 for them.
252 seems to be the wall as it has been since 2001 but, this time i got more tools to break it.
goin' to record upper workout tomorrow the same and see if there is a difference.

HYPOGLYCEMIA, no longer a scare
just poked an 81 into my second lower set.
anything below about 115 aint good to work out with.
changed up my lower set a bit.
increased weight from 25lbs. to 35 lbs on situps and hyperextensions.
started using ankle straps for hip exercises on low pulley with 20 lbs.
hit a friggin' wall.
think on lower workout days i'm going to load up with a shake b/4 working out instead of a bar and tea.
progress is too good to let low blood sugar dismay me.
besides, it aint goin' away, ergo, it must be conquered.
sunday, i'll load up with a shake, then preload with no-xplode and time it right, poke my finger at start and in between sets and see.
if i can crash this wall i'll have it knocked.
nothin' like being your own private lab rat.

PLATEAU or RUT
i've increased my poundage a bit and my feelings right now are stay here, burn a little more when i can, clean up my movements for full range of motion and just keep on trucking.
exercisaholism is not rearing its head up so just keep trucking.
back on the elliptical again and i'm going to double up on it soon.
only thing i'm going to try is on friday i'm going to see if i can hyperextension with a 25 lb. plate like i'm doing with the inclined situps.
squats are just purring along with 230 in plates + machine weight which i'll say is about 50 and even got out 8 reps on the last set.
going to crank up the wrist twist to 20 from 15 just to challenge myself to fail.
i need the psychological scepter of failure looming so i can release more endorphins.
'nuff ramblin' time to guzzle some no-explode and pump some iron.

HYPOGLYCEMIA SCARE
i knew it was going to happen sooner or late but, not nearly as severe as it did.
on sunday, i started my usual routine of granola bar and tea to get ready for working out.
nothing special, no extra heavy weight or reps, just a normal upper body workout.
right after my first set i started to feel like crap and 3 exercises i got worse and then, the depression hit, hypoglycemia.
so i quickly poked my finger and sho nuff a 65, not cool at all.
this week i'm starting off without tea and granola and drinking a shake.
seems ok for now but, i guess my metabolism is cranked up enough that i have to watch it now as well.
well worth it as i feel much better than i have in a while.
the stigma of end of life futility aint goin' to rear it's ugly head up anytine soon i hope cuz i got shit to do.

thank you suzanne somers
i've been trying to find more ways to utilize my 10lb ankle weights.
this morning in my early morning stupor i figured a way to do some sideways leg lifts using them.
easy high rep stuff.
so i did 10x12x15 and cooked some muscle i never knew existed under my lovehandles.
so looks like i'm going to incorporate them into my opening 12x12x15 act.
i also have been monitoring my sugar levels closely to try and figure out the optimum level pre-workout.
120-130 looks pretty good for energy level and emotional drive.
still getting stronger but not by quantum leaps.
steady minute increases in reps and pounds and angles are doing fine.
remember, it's only been less than 3 months since this regime started and i'm pleased as punch with the ongoing results so far.
i can't project the difference in a year's worth but, bring it on.

TRISKADECAPHOBIA
screw it.
increased all 140 lb. exercises to 150 @ 7-7-8
added a chest fly of 70 pounds but, with a full swing on the pacific fitness it cooks along nicely and gives a great upper pec and upper bicep burn.
got on the scale this morning as well and lost 5 lbs. in the last few weeks not even dieting.
i think muscle mass is starting to eclipse calorie intake.
goin' to crank up the volume a bit and elliptical again but instead of jogging for 4 minutes, running for 3 minutes and trying to do it twice or thrice daily.

nudder shitty day in paradise
today i decided to mix it up a bit.
instead of barbell preacher curls with 70 lbs., i went to incline hammer dumbell curls with 25 pounders to start (remember back in '99 when i was pulling 55's).
still did 21's but, noticed a bigger burn over the entire length of my biceps and cooked my anterior deltoids as well.
also, i'm becoming fond of the wrist curls as well, doing one underhand and one overhand of 15 lbs. with about 20 reps for each arm each way.
i've been taking a vacation from the elliptical cuz my right knee is cooking a bit.
had a moment of clarity about the whole megilla as well.
since 8/26 i've worked out about 70 times total and my sugar and general feeling of well being is vastly improved.
only getting a candy jones about once a week and only satisfying it once a month.
cigars are even tasting better, go figure.

news flash
yesterday i noticed an inkling of my 6pack emerging from my belly fat.
hope to see noticeable improvements for my doctors on 2-15.
now, i don't want any injuries.
so i'm goin' to be extremely careful for the near future.
can't wait 'til i can video myself and see how sloppy i am and where i can improve even more without more poundage.

guaranteed results in 6 weeks
well a 'lil bit longer than than but, noticing small sniglets of changes.
not so stiff.
surface fat shrinkage.
appetite and cravings diminished.
no water retention in lower legs.
getting more aerobic.
getting stronger.
i think i'm going to keep poundage the same for a while and concentrate on form.
last upper i changed the angle of my french press by going up one click on the seat back and really felt the difference, gonna try 'smore of that kind of tweaking.
i figure it's goin' to take a little while longer to get my joints to catch up to my strength but, i got plenty of time.
baby video camera should be in today so i can see my moves and polish then better.

burnin' belly
i'm back!
did 60 vkr's (3 sets x 20) with 20lbs of ankle weights and just burned my lower belly nicely with no major joint pain.
figure in a year i'll be in good enough shape to maybe get my meds reduced.
well worth it.

increased a bit today
for some reason i increased my reps on my last set doing my lowers.
nothing special on a nothing special day
i think i'm going to up my reps on last circuit normally and then increase when i start increasing my second circuit.
woke up this morning with aching hip but, took it slow and easy and worked through it.

modified eating schedule
starting to eat daily big meal in the early afternoon and having a high protein shake or a can of slimfast in the evening.
good news is, this is easily sustainable and will continue to shrink me perpetually.
the speed of shrinkage is a bout a pound or 2 or 3 a month.
so in about 3 years when my body really starts slowing down there will be a lot less to slow down.
conformation on the shrinkage came last night while taking a shower, i looked down and saw my schwantz.
fat guys can't do that.
starting to see the direction i want to skew this blog in.
also, it's good typing practice.
NEXT PROJECT IS LEARNING HOW TO USE THE SHIFT KEY PROPERLY.
above sentence was done without the lock, kewl.

upper body day...
4 minutes elliptical.
70 lb. preacher curls.
80 lb. tricep pushdowns.
80 lb. front raises.
130 lb. french press.
130 lb. lat pulldowns.
130 lb. dumbell bench press angled up.
130 lb. narrow grip low row.
130 lb. low angle bench press.
3 sets in ciruit.
8 reps first 2 times around, 10 reps to burn out.
4 minutes elliptical in the evening.
just enough to tone body and crank up metabolism.
just enough chemisty to supplement my diet.
doing it since beginning of sept. and only missed one day for doctor visits.
doctors say i'll live for another 4 months as they don't want to see me 'til 2/15/10.

10-16
started doing 4 minutes on the elliptical in the morning as well as the evening today.
little concerned about doing hard aerobics with a lvef of only 46.
recovering in about 2 minutes so i'm ok there.
lower on strength today.
10 incline situps.
20 10lb. weighted leg raises.
8 55 lb. hamstrings
7 120 lb. leg extensions.
15 twisting hyperextensions.
7 200lb. squats.
3 sets in circuit.
nice to be challenging my body again.
